Rome Day III and Embarkation

We started the day with getting our luggage packed and sent off to the ship. Then we took our first “shore excursion” to see the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and the Pope. Yes, an audience with the Pope – well not exactly but we did see him. St. Paul’s Balisica was not open due to the Papal visit. So, now, I must bring Mody back! The Sistine was absolutely fantastic!

Embarkation went smoothly. We had pre-checked so no long lines. It took a bit for the luggage to get to our stateroom, but it all made it intact. We are still getting used to the ship and the shipboard environment. There are 3100 passengers and 1200 crew members aboard this 119,000 ton ship.

We sail to Livorno and take the bus trip to Florence and Pisa next.

Ciao
